What to expect
You can expect:
-
A warm welcome, with all the materials you need to follow the service easily
-
Eucharistic worship that is ordered, structured and dignified, according to the Book of Common Prayer and the Authorised (King James) Version of the Bible
-
Beautiful music in the Anglican choral tradition at all main Sunday services, led by the choir and organist
-
Orthodox preaching that follows the Church’s liturgical year, and is based on the teaching of the Christian Faith and the exposition of the Scriptures
-
A friendly chat afterwards over tea or coffee and refreshments - please do say hello to the Rector and members of the congregation!
There is organ music before the service and a bell is rung for about five minutes before the service starts. All services will have a sermon from the Rector or a visiting preacher. These usually last for around 10 minutes. The choir plays a part in all services, leading hymns and sung elements of the service. The service ends with an organ voluntary. Many people sit and listen to this for five minutes or so. Others will start to congregate around the tea and coffee table for a chat.
At Sung Eucharist and Holy Communion services, all who are baptised and would normally receive communion are welcome to do so. Alternatively, you are welcome to come up with a service sheet in your hands to receive a blessing, or to remain in your seat if you prefer.
Children
We welcome children of all ages and no one should be embarrassed if young ones cry or older ones wander around. We do not at the moment have a Sunday School so children remain in the service with their parents. There is a carpeted area in the side chapel which is available for parents and small children who want to step away from the main church for a while.
If you have any questions about our Services or need to get in touch with us about any other enquiry we will be happy to help. Please Contact Us for more information.
